Also FotografInnen zeigt her eure Bilder!!!

If I hear, how most photographers complaining that they do not make enough money. But on the other hand, i got the impression that many photographers are convinced that they have to get money for people are watching them at work. Especially when you see the mass of workshops, with some trying to stay afloat, it could almost agree.

Well, I do wonder whether they misinterpret the word Artist and think of themselves as circus performers, if not as clowns.

But let’s stop for a moment. What is the product of a photographer? Right, a photograph.

So how does a photographer earn his money? Right, with his photographs.

Well I think there is not much choice, either you see yourself as an artist, as a service provider or you get paid contracts.

If you see yourself as an artist, it’s your concern to sell your photos to people who love art. Or do you know painter who live by let people watch them paint?

So you have to advertise for your images do not for your person. There are proper channels to advertise pictures.

If you see yourself as a service provider, it is also your concern to sell images. However, the images that people need right now. People who come to you and have exact requirements. This can be a perfectly ordinary passport photo, an application photo, but also a sophisticated wedding portrait.

Well let’s face it, no one let’s make his passport picture by a photographer who is famous for his surrealist landscapes. Unless he is eccentric.

So you have to advertise your products, maybe once again to remember so you have to advertise your products, and because it was so beautiful again, you have to advertise your products. In the end, other people don’t really care, who has photographed the passport photo. If anyone needs a passport photo right now, then he takes someone that gets in the way. But if he sees a good one, he asks who did take it and he will remember the next time, when he needs one.

And then it’s just like for all self-employed persons in the world, the more advertising the more chances you get clients.

If you a paid contract-job, the contract is normally so that the images belong to the client. Here it is also your power, your craft that you sell. But rarely your name.

But when I see most websites, the name is presented at the first, then extensively the person, then mostly a bunch of information about technology and making ofs, and rarely some products, some photographs. I know photographers pages on which you can not find one of their photographs, there are even sites where you only find photographs from other photographers.

When a painter would only presents himself, he would hardly sell pictures, but that is how he earns his living. At first the people are of little interest for the special painting techniques of a painter. But when they see his paintings, they can dicide if they will buy it.

So photographers show your pictures !!!
